The South Loop is one of the most dog friendly neighborhoods in Chicago. Here are some top dog friendly parks.
Coliseum Dog Friendly Area- 1466Â S Wabash Ave
At .65 acres with plenty of shaded benches, this fenced in dog park is the perfect place to let your pup run off the leash. Coliseum offers water stations open seasonally. Make sure to visit a participating vet to get a permit to bring your dog to Chicago Park District dog parks.
Grant “Bark” Dog Park-Â 1000 S Columbus Dr
Grant Bark Dog Park has water stations and bag dispensers, but no designated small dog area. Pets are permitted to run off the leash in this 18,000 square foot grass and gravel, tree lined park. Access the park from one of two paths on the 11th Street bridge or Columbus.
Fred Anderson Dog Park-Â 1629 S Wabash Ave
Fred Anderson Dog Park has two entrances– one for small dogs and another for large dogs. The park is also equipped with water stations and bag dispensers. Because it is reported to be well maintained and cleaned nightly, Fred Anderson is a favorite among many South Loop dog owners.
D’Angelo Park-Â 438 S Franklin St
D’Angelo Park is a “full amenity” dog park, well lit and equipped with water stations for both people and dogs, bag dispensers, a designated small dog area, and seating. The 5,000 square foot park is located between Congress Freeway and the Thermal Building.
Prairie District Dog Park-Â 2051 S Prairie Ave
The Prairie District Dog Park has been called a “hidden gem” and “small dog sanctuary” by neighborhood dog owners. The quiet, newer dog park is right next to a kids park and offers water stations and a designated small dog play area.
